     While I visited the Writing Center this semester. I learned a lot of things that will help me for other papers and essays. The person who helped me a lot was Mary Beth Barksdale. She was very helpful to me. When I go again I will go with Mary Beth. She really explained to me how to make a thesis. This way made it easier for me to get through writing the thesis. I would really recommend for my peers to go visit her in the Writing Center.
      I always tell my friends that the Writing Center is not as bad as it seems. I really enjoyed my visit to the Writing Center. I can't wait until I am able to visit it again.

How is ninth grade english different from eighth grade english?

    There are many differences between English with Dr.D and English with Mrs. Milligan. The things we learned about in English with Mrs. Milligan were about mainly just writing, but now we are learning about how to write also different types. Things in Dr.D's class I feel are more in depth than English with Mrs. Milligan. 

  Even though these two classes are in different times. They both have taught many things that I will be able to use later on. Mostly like in my adult life when I have a job.

In about 5 hours I will be trying out for Louisiana Volleyball Club. I am really excited and just a little bit nervous. I am not really nervous because I love volleyball and I know I will try my hardest at tryouts. If I don't make it then its not really going to bother me because I know I did the best that I could. I am excited because I will get to play volleyball which is something I haven't really done since the season ended. I have been practicing at home, at a gym, and also getting help from my parents.

Volleyball is my favorite sport, and sometimes I get really frustrated with myself because I try to compare myself with other people. Now I know that I just need to focus on myself and not other people /players. I will update you on how everything goes. Also I hope everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving Break.

My Prompt

My Prompt- If you were stuck on a desert island like in LOTF what is the one thing you would bring with you?

For me being stuck on a desert island would be pretty bad because I don't really know or have survival skills. I think most people would say a phone but there is no service or no outlets to charge you mobile device. So I would bring like a large package of food. I would bring this because I would be able to last longer on the desert island. I would have like sandwiches and other simple foods like that.

I guess some people would say that this is not a smart idea because I would run out of food. I know that is true but I really do think it is the smartest idea to survive on this desert island. I think that I would last a long time on the deserted island with the food

Have you just ever sat outside on a weekend and just looked at the sky? I do it all of the time. I feel like there are so many mysteries/stories in the sky. At night, I always wonder how many stars are in the sky. I guess I won't ever find out. I see the sky as a just a giant puzzle. I think that the sky holds a path a kind of peace.

The sky is like a home away from home. It is a place where even though you can't touch it you will always know that it is there. If I am having a bad day I will just sit outside and look at the sky and It gives me a sense of happiness

Desert Island

I think that being stuck on a desert island would not be to fun. I think that our class wouldn't survive for  a long period of time. I think this because there was not much communication and people have a lot of different ideas. Also, people wanted to be "leader" so people would probably fight over who was like the ruler or leader. I think that not many people know survival skills. There are not many people who know how to start a fire.

There were a lot of people with the ideas of splitting up into groups. This is not a good idea because I think our class would probably get lost or things of that nature while trying to find food. People would also bicker about why were they put in one group. Being stuck on this island would not go so well.

Volleyball season is coming to an end. I am both happy and sad about it. I am happy about it ending because now I can get more sleep and study/homework time because during the season I would get home late or barely have time to do the homework I was assigned. I will go to sleep at a decent time now which should help me overall. The sad part is not playing volleyball everyday. I will miss playing with my team everyday! I hope that I will be able to play with them again!

I am hoping to tryout for a club team so I can continue to play volleyball until tryouts start next year. I will practice with my friends to get better! I am so excited for next years volleyball season! I am hoping that I make the team so that I can play with the new girls that tryout! I want to play all during high school!

Reading Response

The first of the 3 stories that I annotated was Araby by James Joyce. I found it very interesting how the story was told with very vivid details but the main character is blind. I just find that an odd connection between the two elements of the story. The second story that I annotated was The Sniper by Liam O'Flaherty. The interesting thing about this story is that it is about a sniper and his brother. There was a huge plot twist. Dublin which is the sniper shoots someone so he can stay alive and then he finds out that he shot his brother. That was a major surprise. The third book I annotated was A Worn Path by Eudora Welty. This was a very interesting story about a woman name Phoenix Jackson. This lady is very strong and wise. She is a good person.

short stories

I have found it very helpful to read the short stories in class. It is helpful to read these stories because they help me think about what I want to write my short story on. It has kind of made a path for me on the journey to writing my story. I really like the way we did annotations. Focusing on a specific part of the story. It helped me realize what kind of details I needed and other things of that nature!

I don't really understand if my short story should be something true like Da-Duh or a fiction story like Harrison Beregeron. Thats all I am really unsure about! I am thinking I should do a fiction story because I think it would be easier for me to just write and story that isn't true than think of a real life story and describe that incident.

Claire's Thoughts

Did I do all my homework thats due for tomorrow? Math? English? Science? Social Studies? Okay Im good! I cannot believe Jessica lied about who she was hanging out with this weekend. I guess she really didn't want me to know! I had fun with my best friends Simone, Caroline, and Charlotte . I wonder does Jason like me? People said he does but I JUST DON'T KNOWW. Its killing me.

I am exhausted I should go to sleep. I am so uncomfortable. I am starving I should have eaten dinner. I wonder if I cut my hair would I look the same or completely different. It was really hot today. I just sat in the house and watched Teen Wolf all day!

This week I finished The Fault in Our Stars. I love this book so much! There are so many cliff hangers that keep you reading! After everything happens you just hope for the best for everyone even though its  probably not possible. The Fault in Our Stars is the type of book that you could read 300 times and ever  get tired of it.  It is an epic romance that keeps you on your toes.

I am not really sure what my short story will be about but I am thinking about a  teenager girl going through some struggles with school and family but no one knows because she holds her head high and  keeps the pain to herself. She is the type of girl who could sad on the inside but by her facial expression no one would know.

e-book

I am really kind of nervous about people seeing my narrative because I feel like people will make fun of my paper or think it is stupid or things of that nature. The semi-public part is making it a little bit more comforting! I don't think I there are any names that needed to be changed because there are not many people in my story!


Well I am not really sure what would enhance my writing as in pictures or audio or videos I am thinking about getting help from my fellow classmates. I am thinking about making my title big and in a really pretty font with bright colors, but I am not really sure! I am thinking about adding a few pictures in.

I am nearly finished with The Fault in Our Stars. This whole week I think I have cried a total of 30 times because it gets just so emotional. You are happy for everyone and then something happens and you just want everything to be right again! There are so many twist and turns a its like a roller coaster, but on a roller coaster you always sit and enjoy the ride no matter what. I think that really explains this book!

I really just want everyone to read this book because I enjoy it so much that I think other people will love it as well. If you read this book you will feel the same way I feel about it!

Reading Response 9/3

I am still reading The Fault In Our Stars which is an amazing book! The author put so much feeling into! Every time I read it you can feel the emotions of the characters. I am emotionally attached to Hazel and Gus because they love each other so much you just don'y want anything to happened to either of them!

I don't want this book to end thats how much I love it! I think that anyone could read this book and just automatically fall in love! I recommend to anyone because thats how great I think it is! If you need a book to read then read this one!
